Brittany is an Associate at Rudner MacDonald LLP, a boutique employment law firm, which was recently recognized as one of the top three Employment and Labour Law Firms in Canada by the Canadian HR Reporter Readers’ Choice Awards. 

Brittany’s pro-active and preventative approach assists both employers and employees to manage their workplaces. Such an approach includes the preparation and implementation of comprehensive workplace policies and procedures, employment and independent contractor agreements and training for employees. She has a wide range of experience assisting employers and employees with staffing related challenges, including issues of performance management, accommodation, return to work plans, workplace investigations, corporate restructuring and dismissal. Brittany has assisted employers to defend against wrongful dismissal and constructive dismissal claims, human rights complaints, breaches of the Employment Standards Act, 2000, and complaints of reprisal under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. She has also acted as co-counsel on behalf of employees in complex matters that have proceeded through the litigation process to the trial stage.

Brittany is a regular contributor to the Rudner MacDonald blog, and has been published in Canadian HR Reporter. Since joining Rudner MacDonald LLP, Brittany has also assisted Ms. Natalie MacDonald to update the punitive damages chapter for Ms. MacDonald’s text, Extraordinary Damages in Canadian Employment Law.

She has been a speaker at a number of conferences and panels, including events hosted by the Canadian Marketing Association and the Women’s Law Association of Ontario.

Brittany completed her undergraduate degree in English and Classical Studies at the University of Western Ontario. She returned to Western to obtain her Juris Doctor, graduating with distinction in 2012.

Prior to joining Rudner MacDonald LLP, Brittany completed her articles and practiced at a leading Toronto law firm. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2013.

In her free time, Brittany enjoys drawing, attending comic conventions, running and spending quality time with her two dogs, Rocket and Theta.
